HACKENSACK, NJ — A Hackensack Police Lieutenant has been arrested on accusations he used a GPS tracker to stalk his estranged wife, Acting Bergen County Prosecutor Dennis Calo announced.

Lt. Richard Levis, a resident of Butler, is charged with one count of burglary, a third degree crime, and one count of stalking, a fourth degree crime, authorities said.

The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office received information on December 30 that Levis may have placed a GPS tracking device in his estranged wife’s vehicle without her permission. An investigation by the BCPO and the Oakland Police Department’s Internal Affairs Unit confirmed the allegations and Levis was issued a summons through the Bergen County Municipal Court on January 7, officials said.
